Caring for your Vehicle

Starting a cold engine
  • Check the under Chassis for any visual abnormalities and leaks – e.g. leakage of fuel, lubricating oil, clutch oil, hydraulic oil and coolant.
  • Check Coolant Level, Engine oil level, Fuel Level, Fuel tank lid, Air filter service Indicator, Battery terminal and Tyre pressure before starting a cold engine.
  • Engine level on dipstick should be between Max – Min Mark. Use Only AMW Valvoline Genuine Oil for top up of oil, if necessary. Use Coolant Mixture Ratio 50:50 totop up, if need be. Ensure the DAT cap is intact and DAT is not damaged.
  • Start engine WITHOUT pressing the ACCLERATOR PEDAL. Wait for 5 minutes before pressing the pedal. Do not throttle.
  • Check Oil Pressure meter (Minimum 0.69 bar.) and Air pressure gauge (Minimum 7.2 bar).
  • Check functioning of AMP meter to ensure charging of battery.
  • Check functioning of all electrical fittings and bulbs and meter fitted on dashboard.
  • Check position of HAND BRAKE VALVE (Parking Brake).
  • Check functioning of Tipping system.
  • Check the idle RPM of the engine.

Driving
  • Adjust Rear View Mirror.
  • Press Clutch Pedal & Engage 1st gear to move the vehicle from Rest. This will increase life of clutch disc. To move a loaded vehicle, always use CRAWLER gear.
  • Drive in correct gear. Shift gear only when RPM Meter needle is either below or have crossed Green Band. This will help in saving FUEL.
  • DO NOT rest your LEG on clutch pedal.
  • Do not jerk start the vehicle from rest.
  • Always move vehicle with tipper body in lowered position.
  • Never drive a vehicle with LOAD BODY in raised position.

General

Service your vehicle regularly, according to the manufacturer's instructions. A poorly tuned engine can use up to 50% more fuel and produces up to 50% more emissions than one that is running properly.

Air filters: Regular visual checks of the air filter will tell you if it needs replacing and your owner's manual will also recommend appropriate replacement intervals. Clogged filters can cause up to a 10% increase in fuel consumption.

Oil: Using the correct viscosity oil is important because higher viscosity oils have greater resistance to the moving parts of the engine, and therefore use more gas.

Dont's
  • DO NOT press accelerator hard for raising the load body quickly.
  • Do not drive vehicles at low gear for prolonged periods. Use correct gears always.
  • Do not idle run the engine unnecessarily.
  • Avoid Clutch riding or Half clutch driving - Fuel Saving & to obtain better life of Clutch Disc, Pressure plate, Release bearing & Flywheel.
  • Do not use ADULTERATED Fuel. Always fill from trusted and known pumps.
  • Do not drive vehicles without an air filter or a choked air filter.
  • Do not COAST vehicle.
  • Do not top up coolant while Engine is Hot or immediately after running for a long time.
  • Do not overfill lubricating oil in aggregates.
  • Do not run either with over inflated or under inflated / deflated tyre.
  • Do not FLASH test a battery – to avoid damage to Alternator.
  • Do not carry out welding on the vehicle without disconnecting the battery cable and alternator terminal.
  • Do not throttle accelerator suddenly before switching off the engine.
  • Do not drive the vehicle when the hoses are punctured or clamps are loose.
  • Do not use unclean water to top up radiator or battery.
