Gujarat, one of India’s fastest growing states is home to Asia MotorWorks’ (AMW) manufacturing facilities. Bhuj, in Western Gujarat where AMW is located was once a barren stretch of land devastated by an earthquake in 2001. Today as the town is seeing the benefits of rehabilitation and industrialization, AMW, one of the early companies to set up a plant here, is today an active participant in the long-term social development of communities in Bhuj.
Today as AMW stabilizes its manufacturing operations and looks to expand in the region, health and development of the community around us is equally important to us.
A major contribution of the company is in the employment of local youth both in technical and executive positions. Promotion of self-help groups, medical awareness camps provision of emergency medical and ambulance services have contributed to better living and health standards in the region.
We have undertaken the following activities in and around our manufacturing facilities:
- Free Medical Aid/ Ambulance Services
- Dental Checkup Camps
- Blood Donation Camps
- Educational Camps
- Family Planning Programs
- Organization and assistance in mass marriages
- Encouraging women as secondary earners in the family through vocational training and job opportunities
AMW has volunteered with several NGO’s, towards community welfare and development and disaster management activities. AMW is in the process of identifying an NGO to partner with to initiate and conduct sustainable activities for social development and health care.
